Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer
Three quick updates from my desk.
1. The September 2022 issue of The Practicing Writer 2.0 went out to subscribers this morning. You’ll find more than 60 fee-free competitions and called curated within—all of them paying for winning/published work. Is that a record? Maybe! Please share it with your writing networks!
2. As mentioned in the newsletter, Moment magazine has just re-published “Homecomings,” a story that will be familiar to readers of Quiet Americans. And as I’ve also explained here, the story has been made available online (for the first time) in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the terrorist attack on the Israeli Olympic team at Munich in September 1972.
3. I’m also busy this week with the start of the academic year and a newly-commissioned freelance article. It’s all keeping me on those metaphorical toes—even if I’m actually spending quite a lot of time sitting at my desk!

Congratulations on the re-publication of “Homecomings”, Erika, and also on the newly-commissioned piece. More power to you! Thank you, too, for the latest issue of The Practicing Writer. It is much appreciated.
Clive, you are always so kind. Thank you!
Congratulations on Homecoming and your upcoming article, Erika! I always look forward to the latest issue of The Practicing Writer. Your culling together of resources is invaluable– thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thank you! Much appreciated!
