- Having attended multiple sessions of the Iowa Summer Writing Festival between 1997 and 2000—a formative period for my writing practice—I’m saddened to read of the Festival’s closure.

- Glad I caught this one before moderating an anthology-focused panel at a conference this weekend: “Anthology Editing: Advice and Insights from Those Who’ve Been There” (Lisa Timpf for Jane Friedman’s website).

Sorry to hear the news about the Iowa summer writing festival. Way back in something like 1999, when I was a full-time journalist, I flew out to Iowa for a fiction workshop, but it took years to write any publishable fiction. I love reading and writing fiction and nonfiction.
Yes, it’s really a shame.
