Friday Finds for Writers

Writing-related resources, news, and reflections to peruse over the weekend.

  • A bizarre story. “Literary ambition. Fabulous parties. A hidden past. Who is Anna March?” Well, among other identities and roles, she started a literary project you may have heard about: “Roar, an online magazine of ‘literature and revolution by feminist people.’ Using empowering rhetoric and online social media solicitations, March quickly attracted writers and editors looking for a way to speak out against then-President-elect Trump.” I’ve looked through my archives and haven’t found promotion of Roar on this blog or in newsletters, but that doesn’t guarantee that it isn’t there; if I did somehow lead you to Roar, please be sure to read this article for important information! (And article co-author Melissa Chadburn posted this important note on Twitter regarding a follow-up story.)
  • Better news! Fiction writer Rebecca Makkai appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week, and she had a lot to say about her writing (and her dad’s). Bonus: You can find another interview with Rebecca right here in our archive.
  • Also inspiring: 25 Alice Munro short stories that you can read online right now. (Thanks, Literary Hub!)
  • “Social Media Advice for Authors with Limited Time” is a Grub Writes blog post filled with useful tips from Crystal King.
  • And you’ll find a fresh set of #JewLit links over on the My Machberet blog.
  • Have a great weekend!
