Midweek Notes from a Practicing Writer

Three quick updates from my desk.

1. Some years ago my mother shared a snippet of a childhood memory with me that my brain filed away for possible development into a children’s story (it involves the appearance of a Famous Person at her decidedly un-splashy apartment building). This past weekend, I called one of my mother’s childhood neighbors/friends to see if he could round out any of the details. He was able to give me enough to keep me going with the idea, which, if I manage to do anything with it, could be a fictional picture-book story. Stay tuned!

2. A follow-up from last week: I am now a member of the Author’s Guild!

3. And, right on time, I posted the August newsletter for poets, fictionists, and writers of creative nonfiction over the weekend.

an open spiral notebook with a pen resting on a blank page, plus a text label that reads, "Midweek Notes."
