Jewish Literary Links: Opportunities—and More

graphic announcing Jewish Writing Opportunities

Toward the end of each week, the My Machberet blog presents a collection of links, drawn primarily from the world of Jewish books and writing. This week offers a “double dose”: first, a set of current opportunities in the Jewish-literary space, followed by other news.

  • “Have a Jewish literature program or event you want to run, but it’s outside of your budget? Jewish Book Council is asking for applications for microgrants to supplement additional programming expenses in the literary and Jewish spaces.” NB: “Microgrants will be capped at up to $1,000 per organization”; programs should take place by December 31, 2025. Application deadline: March 15.
  • Two opportunities featured in the most recent issue of The Practicing Writer 2.0 (which lists only calls and competitions that do not charge application/reading fees and do offer payment/funding) seek explicitly Jewish work. You’ll find information for both the next iteration of the PJ Library Jewish Picture Book Summer Camp (with a March 16 application deadline) the Natan Notable Book Award (closing April 1) included therein.
  • Also closing April 1: applications for this summer’s Richard Solloway Internship at Moment magazine, “for highly qualified college seniors and new graduates with extensive journalism experience. This internship program provides hands-on experience in editorial work while supporting interns in the development of their own reporting projects.” This may be a part-time or full-time internship at the magazine’s headquarters in Washington D.C. Compensation: $18/hour.
  • Noted on Bluesky (where, by the way, we could use some more Jewish literary/organizational voices): “The Jewish Poets Collective Journal is open for submissions until April 6. You will find submission guidelines at jewishpoetscollective.com Jewish poets and allies are welcome to submit their work whether it’s Jewish themed or not.”
  • Social Media Manager sought: “Zibby Media is looking for a New York or L.A. based book-loving digital native to join our collaborative team as a full-time content creator and social media whiz, with a primary focus on our On Being Jewish Now platform and Totally Booked with Zibby podcast accounts.” Hiring salary: “$65K – $100K.” No deadline indicated.
